Rated 4 out of 5 by great tool works really nicely. Does what it supposed to do. easy clean up. Great. May 15, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Grinder works well turning chuck roast into ground beef. I use mostly lean beef roast cut into pieces as per directions. I usually run it through the large hole die first then grind it a second time through the small hole die. The extra freshness of the resultant burgers is well worth the price of the device and the effort. The only drawback is clogging caused by sinew and silverskin in the roast. May 15, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by This food grinder is so easy to use. I have not been satisfied with the quality of ground meats from my grocery store, yet I use ground meat for so many of my favorite recipes. The KitchenAid food grinder allows me to have the freshest, leanest, and most flavorful ground meat for my meatloaf, burgers, and chili, just to name a few. I love it and would recommend it to anyone who wants to improve the quality of their food. May 15, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Worked Great We ground up elk meat for the first time and it worked great. We even made some Italian Sausage using the ground up meat. We will be using attachment often. It was easy to use. October 10, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by We have the aluminum grinder and have used it for over 20 years. Superior! We are working with the aluminum grinder and have used it for over 20 years. Looked into the new ones and decided to keep the old. We'd like to replace the inside blade but you don't show to have any parts for the unit. That would be a good idea. We've tried sharpening the blade and hope it keeps working for the next 20 years. November 12, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Absolutely awful. It may be ok for simple tasks and minimal amounts but... I have been making sausage since i was a child and this was simply the wurst! Seriously, we tried to make 10 lbs of chicken/feta spiced sausage and it was barely useable. To be honest i will go out and buy a cast hand-crank grinder before i would use this again. The slop between the feed gear and the wall of the grinder is so large that unless you force the meat down the shoot it will barely self feed and. Additionally, once ground you cannot use this tool to stuff the casing. Once ground the meat will squeeze past the gear and stay in the tube unless you force it through with the plunger. The plunger should only be needed to knock meat into the worm gear, which SHOULD be doing the work. After 1/2 hour and maybe 10 finger length sausages i traveled 9 miles to go get the old hand crank stuffer to finish the job. This grinder and stuffer are going back today. I am sure someone will state that the picture shows stuffing the sausgae directly from the initial grind. You could do that if you want a poorly mixed products. I highly doubt that it would have the power to stuff a casing because the design is so poor. Additionally, If you think of it you want to be able to stuff your casing at the same level as the stuffer tube. With this you have to either hang the sausgae in the air and break the casing regularly, or you have to build some sort of table to receive the sausage. Look at any commercial stuffer and you will see the tube exits at table level. This is simply an introductory tool and not for any regular use. It's one of those gadgets that will sit at the back of the closet. April 7, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by This product works good, just doesn't hold up. I love the grinder. The problem is, with a company that makes such a superior Standmixer, I have had to replace the grinder twice, and shredder twice. They crack easily and at the cost of them, they are not a good buy. I just purchased one of your vintage grinders that is made of aluminum and wonder why you changed the aluminum to plastic. The plastic ones aren't any good. As for the shredder, I decided to go with a cheaper brand food processor instead of purchasing a 3rd one. I love my Kitchen Aid and have bought one for both of my kids because they are excellent. But advised them that the accessories aren't worth the money. Sorry. September 4, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Changed our lives - Seriously! This wonderful KitchenAid® attachment has changed the way we view ground meat products. From the very first time I purchased an inexpensive roast, asked the butcher for a half pound of beef fat, went home and ground our own home made ground beef, we decided we would never buy store or factory ground beef again. There is no comparison. After the "pink sludge" scare a few years ago, everyone wants better ground meat products and this simple device makes it not only possible but easy and affordable. I also grind pork butt and make our own sausage patties by simply adding a bit of sage and you can too. I also grind the beef, pork and veal to make the best meatballs ever. If you have ever considered this attachment, quit thinking and go get it. You will be so glad you did. Thanks, Mark from Sacramento, CA May 14, 2013
